Awareness

Book a Guest Speaker on Disaster Awareness and Preparation:

The Maroochy Shire Council Local Government Disaster Management Group, (LGDMG) and The Maroochy State Emergency Service offer the services of Guest Speaker.

The presentations are about helping the Sunshine Coast residents to become Disaster Awareness and Preparedness. This is a professional look into what should be done if and when we are faced with a natural disaster such as a cyclone, flood, storm or earthquake just to name a couple here in the Shire.

These interesting PowerPoint presentations are supported by some photographs and the hand out of brochures. The SES "Guest Speaker" service is open to all groups in The Maroochy Shire.

Please telephone: 0417 624 959 to set a date.

Standard Emergency Warning Signal (SEWS)

When disasters loom or a major emergency happens, Queenslanders will be alerted by the
sound of the Standard Emergency Warning Signal (SEWS).

SEWS is used throughout Australia for various events including cyclones.

When you hear the signal on radio or television, pay careful attention to the message that follows, and act immediately on the advice given.

Further information about the Standard Emergency Warning Signal can be found on the Emergency Management Australia Web Site.
