HQ

The
Maroochy Shires State Emergency Service Unit is made up of four
strategically placed SES Groups located at Nambour, Kenilworth,
Coolum and Maroochydore. Each Group has a Leader and Deputy Leader
who oversee the training and administration of that group of volunteers.
Groups have their team of "specialists", trained and ready
in areas such as flood rescue, storm and cyclone damage, missing
persons, traffic control, emergency lighting, radio communications
and forensic searches.
Groups
are equipped with a limited supply of resources to render help
and assistance in the field at that
time of community need. Maroochy Shire SES Groups are equipped
with four-wheel drive vehicles, troop carriers, flood boats,
emergency
lighting, trailers, mini-bus, vertical rescue gear and stretchers,
two-way radio network and a well equipped mobile communications
bus and field headquarters.

Each Group is part of a Unit and Maroochy
Shires SES Unit Headquarters is located at the "old toll plaza" Sunshine
Motorway Mooloolaba. The UHQ is where the Maroochy Shire
SES coordinates
all activities during a major disaster. UHQ is the office
for SES Controller Fred Reuter and his Deputy Controller
Phil
Holden.
The
Unit Headquarters also house the training, administration,
communications, welfare, stores, logistics, media and planning
Officers. The building has fully equipped training and
communication areas and has such vital resources on hand
like, GPS, satellite
phone, metal detector, mapping library, district CCV traffic
monitoring relay and the Units computer network. Combined
meetings with police, ambulance, fire, national parks
and wildlife and
Maroochy Shire's counter disaster personnel often take
place at SES UHQ to plan for and be ready if a major
incident were
to happen on the Sunshine Coast. |
