The Coolum SES Group services the expanding coastal district between Maroochydore and Noosa. Coolum Hyatt Resort was the much-publicised venue for (CHOGM) the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2002. Coolum and the 25 kilometre "no go" zone in all directions, experienced the most stringent security arrangements ever carried out in peacetime in Australia. Coolum SES proudly played their part in those arrangements.

Coolum area is a popular Sunshine Coast tourist destination and attracts many famous sporting and media identities. The Coolum SES Group train and prepare themselves in readiness for the summer tropical cyclone season each year. The Group is often activated to assist in Police land searches, traffic control, evacuation work during their local bushfire season and flood rescue.

Kenilworth is a small township north west of Nambour in the Conondale Ranges. It is a rural area and is surrounded by State forests, National parks, lakes and water supply dams. Kenilworth is best known for its cheese factory and is a tourist destination for visitors to the Sunshine Coast.

Because it is somewhat isolated from the larger coastal towns, the Kenilworth SES Group is called upon as first response to most transport and motor vehicle accidents. The "biggest land search ever" as reported in the media took place at Kenilworth in 1999 which involved a search for 3 missing women. It involved 396 SES volunteers and was carried out over 26 days.

The Maroochydore-Buderim SES Group covers the central coastal district of the Sunshine Coast as well as the Buderim Mountain area, that backdrops the coastline. The Maroochydore-Buderim SES Group train and prepare themselves each year for cyclone and flood rescue work. The Group is often involved in traffic control, forensic and missing person searches. Each year Maroochydore SES are involved in many community-based events such as the coasts largest New Years Eve celebrations held at Mooloolaba and the internationally famous Mooloolaba triathlon. The Nambour SES Group is nestled at the foothills of the Blackall Range which features such well known townships as Mapleton, Flaxton and Montville. Nambour area is a region of natural wonders, National parks and waterfalls such as Kondalilla and Mapleton. Nambour township was well known for decades as home of "The Moreton Sugar Mill"  which was closed down, dismantled and taken away in 2003. However,  the surrounding cane fields still flourish today as farmers have diversified and produce Bio-Cane ("Cow Candy") very successfully for world markets.

The Nambour SES Group train in readiness for flood rescue as they have experienced a few throughout the years. Vertical rescue is also on their agenda, as occasionally visitors have met with problems or accidents exploring the beautiful waterfalls and gorges in the Blackall Range area. Because Nambour Group is in close proximity to the Bruce Highway they are always at the ready to assist at major traffic accidents with traffic control and emergency lighting. Nambour is the headquarters of the Maroochy Shire Council, where a fully prepared mobile communications unit (bus) is always on stand-by if required anywhere in the district.

The Nambour SES Group run a "fundraising" Emergency Service Clothing Store called N.E.S.C.O. which sell SES casual and dress shirts, jackets, ties, stubby coolers other embroidered clothing. New products include SES embossed number plate frames and "new" style metal hat badges. Contact and catalogue details available on our link window.
